James Zannelli is an award winning actor and singer who has enjoyed an international career on stage
performing in opera and musical theatre.
He holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Grand Canyon University, a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance
from Arizona State University and is earning an Advanced Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy at
New York University.
James has performed with City Center Encores,
Goodspeed Opera House, Fulton Opera House, Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, North Carolina Theatre, Sacramento Music Circus,
Ogunquit Playhouse, Media Theatre,
White Plains Performing Arts Center,
Hilton Head, Tennessee Repertory Theatre,
Tuacahn Ampitheatre, Phoenix Theatre,
Arizona Theatre Company, Actors Theatre of Phoenix, Casa Mañana Theatre, Shakespeare Sedona, Santa Fe Opera and Arizona Opera.
Most recently, James played the role of Frollo in the New York premier production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame
at the White Plains Performing Arts Center.
In 2017, James played Tateh in Ragtime at The Gallery Players in Brooklyn, NY which was nominated for a New York Innovative Theatre Award.
In 2015, James received a Best Supporting Actor in a Musical nomination by BroadwayWorld, Dallas for for his performance as Thenardier in Les Miserables at Casa Mañana Theatre in Forth Worth, TX.
In 2014, James won the AriZoni Award for Best Actor in a Musical for his performance as Javert in Les Miserables at Phoenix Theatre located in Phoenix, AZ.
From 2011-2013, James was featured as the Bishop of Digne (and understudy to Thenardier) in the 25th Anniversary North American Touring Produciton of Les Miserables.
From 1998-2003, James performed several small roles with Arizona Opera including Morales in Carmen, Fouquier in Andrea Chenier, Jose Castro in La Fanciulla Del West and Zaretsky in Eugene Onegin.
James is a proud member of the Actors Equity Association and is a member of SAG-AFTRA.
As an educator, James has maintained a private voice studio and has proudly been an adjunct Voice Instructor at New York Univeristy, Glendale Community College and Choir Director at Mountain Ridge High School. For more information about lessons please visit:
